The Masque of the Red Death 1964
Reminds me of when I first watched The Seventh Seal and it was a bunch of Swedes in Spirit Halloween tights waxing poetic on Theology 101. Boring. Put Vincent Price in there and have him make some brown-nosing aristocrats play Boar On The Floor. Have a major character get randomly killed by a bird. Hang a pedophile in an ape costume from a chandelier and set him on fire. Now that’s a movie.

The Brutalist 2024
Awestruck by some of the visuals in this. I know some people who saw this in 35mm but this is an IMAX movie if there ever was one. I even started to get annoyed with the occasional subtitles taking my eyes away from the glorious kino happening on the rest of the screen. Was absolutely baffled and blindsided by the last hour, guess I didn’t pay enough attention to the actual story/characters or something & felt like whatever thematic subtext there was just flew completely over my head. I’m sure it will make more sense once someone explains it to me
