Brief Encounter 1945
Have y'all ever fallen in love with a movie before? Because I am absolutely in love with Brief Encounter. Everything about this film is so airy and delicate, but also entrenched in deep, deep melancholy. I was mesmerized from start to finish. It was as if I was caught in my own daydream, reminiscing about better days. Until it disappears too suddenly and reality sets in; forever stuck hoping that I will return to that dream one day.
unrelated note, but those train shots are stupidly impressive. Like they had no business looking THAT great.

The "what if" type of melancholy hits a soft spot for me. I constantly think of what-if scenarios I make up in my head. The biggest what-if scenario for me (and I'd imagine many other Zoomers) is what if COVID-19 never happened?

Intensely disorienting in IMAX. The colors become more overstimulating and those gun cocking sound effects pop like jumpscares. I was fully immersed in this nightmarish depiction of early 2010s culture like never before.
