  Is it possible to rate such a foundational piece of cinematic history? If so I would give all the stars to the actors, who have such a sweet, intimate, organic kind of chemistry.

  Wonderfully dark with nuanced, fleshed out characters. The closeup of Stanwyck's face as her husband is killed is haunting and chilled me to the bone... And it would be remiss of me not to mention the stunning score, which dusted every scene with a further layer of tension & unease.

  I have to agree with some of the other reviewers, the cast did seem a bit off to me. Heather C's voice was so overly camp it was distracting. I can see why the hard american accents annoyed people, but I just thought it was a stylistic choice so it didn't bother me.
