  barbie summer and it’s the same except this one is boring and so on the nose and do we actually need another film that tells us how women are only competing with each other and vain and living for the male gaze and maybe pointing that out is the whole message but I’m so tired of it so it’s not

  the book is SO much better and has more depth. lots of the story lines felt unexplored and there is no clear message. the message of the book was that there is so much more love to be found in female friendships than in romantic relationships but none of the friendships in the series feel secure or safe or happy? (unless they thought they’d come back for a second season and that’s why the ending felt so unsatisfying?) (i did sob at her mums monologue in the end though 😭)
