The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

Dreadful. Incredibly long and expository. Even had my youngest (who loves Looney Tunes) asking when it would be over. By the end the kids had been turned back around, but not me. Where was the humor? And why on earth (or in space) was there a Looney Tunes alien movie without Marvin the Martian?

    Mulholland Drive

Saw this for the very first time tonight while attending my very first “Classic Film Series” event at the Fargo Theatre. The show opened with a performance on a Wurlitzer pipe organ with more than 150 people in attendance. It was a great experience at one of my favorite theaters in the world.

In regards to the movie, I must admit it had me wanting to go straight home to read essays about the film. 😂 Hopefully I’ll understand it a bit more I’m a few hours!

Looks great, less filling. Loved the visuals and set-up. Couldn’t stick the landing, but the effort alone was admirable. More big swings like this please.

Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles

A few thoughts while watching Jeanne Dielman:
-Oh, so this is a horror movie for housewives
-I should probably be spending 3.5 hours doing my own household chores rather than watching this
-Oh my god, are you still kneading that hamburger?!?
-All this meticulous detail, and yet she never once uses the restroom
-Anyone who voted for this ahead of Citizen Kane should be banned for life from voting for anything
-If this truly were the greatest movie ever made, more people would go to art museums than movie theaters
-And finally, with no spoilers at all, my final thought: “Holy shit! Ok then.”
