A modern classic. A film made for the cinema, every frame a work of art. Vivid and haunting, and often dark and beautiful cinematography with ear-gasmic score - will forever be one of the most beautiful films ever made.

Everything is relative but I'm stuck trying to rate this. Nothing like I've ever seen. Beautiful cinematography, strong performance from the lead. Nothing happens in this film, and I guess that's the point of it, one can be content even with nothing.

Couldn't imagine a film from the 40s to be this well put and produced. The b&w brightly focused videography which was probably a compromise for the tech that existed then, make it oddly charming to watch it now.

The characters in this film are so well built, and the actors playing these characters were simply outstanding. This film is very funny as well, and the humour was timed exquisitely.

Have to admit this original is even better objectively than the modern version of it; but the pair of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan will always be my fav pair in film.

It's 2024 and it makes me happy we still get films like these.

A small lower-middle class family grieving the loss of a loved one, and how the characters go about their own grief and how they handle it: all of it being masterfully reflected through the medium of a play in which they are involved.

A powerful performance by Keith Kupfere as an old-school blue collar man using the character he plays as a gateway to learn to understand his own self and how to process his loss.
