  Nothing brave about this film.

  Butchered and reshot various times to the point where most of the $200 million budget isn’t even on screen, and it looks cheap and rushed instead. Some good story elements in here but they’ve been diluted and sanitised into soulless focus-group-made slop.

  I could smell Bradley Coopers desperation for an Oscar through the screen. Some nice editing and cinematography but it all seemed very shallow and pretentious. Knew nothing about Leonard Bernstein before this, and came out of it learning very little, other than the fact he was gay and a great composer. The film never explains why he was the latter, which is a failure for a film called ‘Maestro’.
