  “Oh those poor schmucks who were just following their dreams — just trying to live —, yet their passion put them on the wrong side of history!” This I wistfully think to myself as I cruise over Europe on a clear night, looking down at all the miniature cities below. With a comforting air of superiority, I sip my tea and continue to burn 40kg per minute.

  There is a sequence in this film in which Gustav Mahler, holding a 3-foot metal Star of David, clambers up a large rock face and, upon reaching its summit, then submits to a nazi-BDSM attired Cosima Wagner (a terrible female vision of evil who stands on a shrine-like plinth and who comes complete with Stahlhelm, black lipstick, and large metal embroidered swastika covering her rump).
