my favorite part of every movie is every time a character is getting in or out of a car

I have been wanting to watch this for quite some time but did not expect this from Haynes at all, I am used to the deliberate melodrama and subtle camp of May December and Carol but the slow creepiness of this film turns into something truly sinister and frightening. Young men on the brink of self-destruction, crushed by the weight of masculinity and fear of not living up to their potential. Brando is incredible in this; there are some excellent performances around him in this film but he has the magic and…
Fucking incredible. The last half hour is some of the most confident and bold filmmaking I've seen in a while. Everything builds so well to that last handful of scenes. Damien Chazelle is a genius.

Wonderful! Amazing dialogue, such a cleverly written script. I loved all the fluid camerawork with lots of movement that just sweeps you past the windows, dropping you in and out of peoples lives. Jimmy Stewart toes the line between coherence and buffoonery so well in a role few others besides him could make relatable. The last 20 minutes were so thrilling and tense. Amazing how well Hitchcock is able to manage intensity at all the right moments.
