You’ve got two adaptations of Elmore Leonard books, both adapted by Scott Frank, both made in the mid-to-late nineties. The director makes all the difference.

Alien: Romulus 2024
Made the catastrophic error of revealing a terrible thing the main character did, WAY TOO early into the movie, such that I lost all interest in her and was actively rooting for bad things to happen to her. Most of it felt like paint-by-numbers Alien IP management, but got nice and gonzo towards the end. It’s fine.
