I haven't been this surprised at how much I loved a film coming out of the cinema since The Creator. I thought this would be a solid 3 star film, but this was honestly an amazing film which kept me gripped throughout. Rewatched this after many many years, and there's a reason that this not only started a franchise, but became the template for many science fiction and horror films in future. The suspense and creature design alone are what elevates this film to top tier status. It also creates a horror icon in Ellen Ripley.
