    Fuck off.

I have been Bonged once again. In the head. In the chest. In the groin. It’s almost as if the guy stopped me dead in my tracks and aimed a scope at every single insecurity I have about the job I do, and my potential as a creative outside of it. Facing the music with this one, but fortunately, the movie’s a blast! Messy, but fully realized, unhinged, comically unsubtle, bleak, but…

Does it hurt when you think?

Bananas. The opening act blows its load way too soon for me to be surprised or as invested by the rest of the tom-foolery, but still, what a time! Love a big swing tonally, and this just fucking sings. Just pure ridiculousness, with such a distinct, fully-realized world, twisted sense of humor, and mad visuals. Borderline a compilation tho, lmao.

Great audience. All the little gags ruled. 🥁

So half-assed. Also embarrassing how bad it wants to be ✨iconic✨. All creative decisions, as unoriginal as they are, reek of this strange, A24 corporate influence that just drove me bonkers. No choice here feels like a necessity to the art. I understand a movie must have selling points, but it’s a problem when all of them feel thrown together just to garnish buzz — especially the casting — and never have a solid…

    Ready for some treason?

A rare case of a story being too tight and dry for my liking, but the craftsmanship here is everything. The diegetic lighting, the close-ups, the intricately playful cutting… ugh. I want to marry and get divorced by this movie.

Lydia Tár with a glock! Love to see it. 🎣

    Oh. You caught me reading.

Hysterical and moving! While the radical in me wishes this dove way deeper into the gargantuan ideas and constructs it wants to play beach with, what it actually does is nothing short of commendable and delightful. Any bombastic movie that wears its heart on its sleeve like armor and is as carefully tailored as this will win me over. It also doesn’t help that two women complimented my pink sweatshirt…
