  I would have shed more tears if I hadn't been watching this film on a plane. Aftersun is so full of life that it did an unusual thing: it made me want to become a dad. Some shots reminded me of Beau Travail, especially the naked torsos against the blue sky and the dance scene at the end to a slowed down Under Pressure. Slow, sad, and generous, it captures the melancholy and contradiction that must be in every experience of parenthood
