  Kinda like Dune 2 except instead of a blue juice that makes you worse, it’s a green juice that makes you hot and then worse.

  This movie got me thinking about ego, our meat suits. Everything in society is designed to destroy your empathy and awareness because if you suddenly understood all the suffering and your interconnectedness you'd fall to your knees and grieve instead of developing a grating sense of humor and fighting each other and buying shit you don’t need. “You are one”…and we forget that

  God this movie sucked. It took 2+ hours to say what the Nicole Kidman AMC ad says, much more iconically and coherently, in 60 seconds.

  Getting kinda tired of love letters to cinema. Someone try hate mail. Do a Tarantino-esque revenge flick where the protagonist kills Damien Chazelle for making La La Land, which years earlier inspired them to abandon their career track and move to Hollywood only to end up stuck with a soul sucking server job.

  I completely forgot about the restraining order subplot and Chris Pine dropping a Tommy Wiseau "I did not hit her" when asked about it. And the scenes shot at Hooters. Cinema, obviously.

  The horror of being perceived and the tragedy of not being perceived at all. How much of love is real and how much is just two people agreeing to pretend? Is optimism a virtue or a form of self-harm? If you never grow, will you just keep meeting the same person over and over again?

  I would go to RHYTHM OF LIFE church tbh.

  Sundance bait that did a pretty good job of disguising itself as Cannes bait. Not for me. I kinda regret not napping during. 

  I will say I’m now eager to see what Paul Mescal does going forward— he seems like a serious talent.
