Hypnotic, unsettling, hilarious, at times lowkey beautiful, and deeply, deeply melancholy, this doc pretty accurately captures the vibe of a Townes song, and while seeming to show a lot of unvarnished truth about Townes, much of the sadness of the film comes from realizing how much of him will always remain a mystery

Presence 2024
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
So is it just a *coincidence* they move into a house with a Protective Presence before Chloe is about to become the victim of a teen serial killer, or is the ghost somehow tied to Nadia (even though the movie clearly indicates the spirit is in the house before this family sees it) and could see the future and knew it needed to be there?
Cool concept and at times well executed but the final ten minutes make no sense

The Bikeriders 2023
A very begrudging like, which seems to be happening a lot this summer. Jodie Comer a thousand percent innocent - she steals literally every scene she’s in. Flawless voice and face performance. The rest of them … 🤷♂️

Plan 75 2022
Three things I want to remember about this haunting movie:
1. It’s very intimately filmed - the camera feels so at home in the small apartments and workplaces of these characters’ lives
2. The ubiquity of Plan 75 branding throughout many of the film’s locations - the innocuous design masks a ruthless government policy to sacrifice a portion of the population in the name of cutting social spending. The logical outcome of neoliberal austerity
3. Michi standing on her balcony, the mountains in the background
A lot of beautiful moments in this movie - truly exquisite filmmaking and I highly recommend
