Edward Berger’s conclave thrives on its technical brilliance. Every frame in this movie is a painting. The set and costumes. The masterful use of color and chiaroscuro. Cinematography by Stéphane Fontaine: impeccable. The sound of violins underscored both the solemnity and tension of the conclave. Ralph Fiennes being widely hailed for his delivery of a career-best performance is justified.
