A lot of storylines and characters that I wish were given more time to develop. It’s a little messy but it’s consistently fun and never boring. I think it did a good job of capturing the zany, Halloween funhouse feel of the first movie without being an exact retread. I feel like it will become more beloved over time as people forgive its faults and relish in the atmosphere and show-stopping moments, just like with the first movie (which is also a little messy at times, if I remember right).

For whatever reason this one made me laugh more often than the first one did. Sometimes these movies dip too low into the vulgar to reach for a laugh, but the jokes per minute rate is so high that it hardly matters. Zac Efron and Rose Byrne are the MVPs, with an honorable mention to Ike Barinholtz for really going for it with the scary clown bit.

Certainly one of the most underrated comedies of its era and perhaps of all time.
