Saw this at its premiere at Cannes in 2011 (Robert DeNiro sitting behind me). It was a gorgeous and visceral experience. Amplified by the older French ladies who marched out during the head stomp scene. Just an incredibly atmospheric film and one of Gosling’s best performances.
