My mom made me see this after Christmas and forbade Nosferatu because Nosferatu is too evil for Christmas. So maybe I’m wrongly disgruntled but when I walked to bathroom out of this movie I heard the Nosferatu theater go wild and thought, “man that sounds kinda fun wish I was watching that right now”.
Anyway, clearly a lot of effort was put into this but idk it was just kinda boring
shot well but kind of boring and redundant. I really didn’t get the point of this of this movie.
Film makers dream of creating something that will chill their audience the way Perfect Blue does. It’s a product of a master pushing the tools of animation in such horrifying ways that you couldn’t emulate the results with live action even if you wanted to. Perfect Blue will have even the harshest anime skeptic feeling a little something and trying to catch their breath.
Satoshi Kon was genuinely one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and his influence across Hollywood is a testament to that. If you don’t believe me then try this movie out (Obligatory “watch in Japanese with subs” comment).
