Takes a while getting where it needs to go and some of the satire falls flat. I was also confused by how Mickey 17 (Robert Pattinson) was an amiable doofus but Mickey 18 (Robert Pattinson) was hostile and violent. But the sci fi set design looked nice and Pattinson is arguably the most interesting mainstream actor working these days, so “Mickey 17” is enjoyable enough. I was expecting… more, however.

Harry and Tonto 1974
After being removed from his apartment in New York, Harry (Art Carney) and his cat Tonto (Tonto) embark on a cross-country journey. Not your typical road movie/buddy comedy, although our heroes do make the obligatory Las Vegas pit stop. Phantom Thread 2017
Codependency as [spoiler] literal poison … strengthening a relationship? Don’t try this at home, kids! Yes, “Phantom Thread” is about haute couture but don’t think this is a Merchant Ivory snoozefest; this film has teeth. Daniel Day-Lewis excels at playing a brittle, complicated man as usual, but both Vicky Krieps and Lesley Manville hold their own. Also: “It’s like you just rode a horse across the room.” We need more representations of people with misophonia in the movies. I feel seen.
Part of Trylon's "The Masterworks of Paul Thomas Anderson" series.

Black Bag 2025
Or: Life’s a riot with spy vs. spy. “Black Bag” corrals always-appealing A-listers Cate Blanchett and Michael Fassbender plus a bunch of BBC regulars (and Pierce Brosnan!) for an unpretentious yet well-made, solidly entertaining espionage caper. Hollywood used to make unassuming B pictures for grown-ups like this all the time; now everything is either shameless award-fodder or is built around quote IP endquote. This year’s second Steven Soderbergh/David Koepp joint.
