The Apprentice 2024
I'm not sure if this movie suffered from some insane hijinks in the editing room but it sure felt that way. A classic slow burn first half followed by what felt like a podcast playing at 3x speed in the second half.
Pacing aside, Jeremy Strong and Sebastian Stan are both killer and manage to cover really well for the supersonic pacing. Maybe one day there will be a Ridley Scott-esque 3 hour cut where Roy Cohn turns out to…Translated from by -
Gladiator II 2024
Fun and significantly less good than the original, which is what I hope for from most sequels. The story is rushed but, honestly, who cares? We already know the story because we all saw the dang first one.
The things that make this movie terrible also make it pretty entertaining. Killer CGI monkeys? a shark tank in the coliseum? Gay, bejeweled Denzel Washington? Sign me up.

On Any Sunday 1971
I watched this after seeing it on a John Wilson list of influential works and can definitely see why. An interesting mashup of elementary school documentary, comedy, weirdness, etc. that focuses on Anerican motorcycle culture in its various forms.
Maybe not for everyone but if you're into watching things that might not be all the way good but function as a proto-document for later things that ARE all the way good, I'd say check it out.
