I'm Still Here 2024
Believe all of the award buzz - completely beautiful and heart-wrenching. Portrayal of the family is so earnest and believable, thanks in no small part to an incredible lead performance by Fernanda Torres. It gave me the feeling I get seeing my own mother cry. That said, of course I can’t relate to the scale of torture and tragedy imposed on this family. I haven’t read the memoir on which this film is based, but it is clear that the source material has been handled with absolute grace and dignity. Quietly wept in the back of the theatre multiple times, 5/5.
