Totally bonkers fight/everything choreography and a young Maggie Cheung make up for the fact that I don't generally find Jackie Chan all that funny, which is not to say there was not some funny things happening here.

Following the Sun 1961
Another great rare discovery. The first Moldovan Soviet film I've seen, and it pays off. Basically the story of a cute boy who loves and chases after the sun, running around town doing stuff and meeting people. The characters are wonderful, and the boy is great and lovely. The cinematagraphy and direction is creative and playful and freewheeling, perfectly matching the boy's adventure. Ultimately a light, lovely, and short film, but not without meaning or substance, perfect if you've grown wary of heavy soviet war films.

Wow. Excellent, powerful and unexpected. Also not very dated, aside from the music, it was very modern. First part was a beautiful ode to horses and perhaps the countryside and nature. Second half was a terrifying nightmare of the city and modernity and murder and animal abuse. Did not expect that scene with the horse.
