The Substance had a great premise - The Picture of Dorian Gray with a modern feminist, Hollywood-critique twist. Demi Moore is good - and while her performance is brave and daring, I wouldn't say it is Oscar worthy. My wife and I were looking forward to this movie especially with the recent Oscar nominations, and I'm sad to say this was an extremely disappointing and overrated film. The acting was good at times - definitely not great and most definitely NOT anything remotely close to Oscar worthy. If this is an Oscar worthy film, our standards have seriously fallen.
