I read the book roughly a million times as a kid. I don't remember all of the plot or the dialogue here 50 years later But I vividly remember the feeling of the read.
It was weird and ridiculous and preachy and scary and exciting and fun and emotional.
All adjectives that apply equally well to this adaptation.
It's kind of a beautiful mess. So is the book.
But the feel? Nailed it.
The puzzle box murder mystery is practically flawless, but what I love about this is how funny it is with the jokes all firmly rooted in character. Just as good on rewatch.
Beautifully shot adaptation of the Arthur C. Clarke short story from 1953. Only problem is that it wasn't much of a short story.
Fun, stylish, action packed, and funny. Flawless casting. Especially enjoyed the score on this watching. Makes me want to go back and fill in the Guy Ritchie flicks we've missed and rewatch those we've seen.
