Shailene Woodley feels miscast. She just doesn’t have the intensity for this role. Not saying she’s a bad actress, but this genre isn’t for her. Her scene with Dean feel more like a couple working through their issues than a real crime investigation. The Bureau higher-ups piss me off. They want results while chilling in their cushy swivel chairs, ignore suggestions, and take credit for other people’s work. And man, I hate that I actually feel bad for the antagonist. I was expecting someone more like the I Saw the Devil guy.

I HATE HATE HATE THE ENDING. This whole movie just pisses me off from the climax onward. Maybe I’m just too used to protagonists who actually think, but this guy? He walks right into every damn trap. You’re a terrorism expert, dude! Act like one.

AND WHY CAN’T THEY USE THEIR DAMN PHONES IN AN EMERGENCY?! It’s 1999, not the Stone Age! The setup was good, the tension was there, but the way everything played out? Infuriating. Tim Robbins was great as a villain, but it’s not fun watching him win just because the main guy is an absolute fool.

Took a chance on it for the hilly countryside, and it delivered. But man, this tested my patience. Beautifully shot, but too slow for me.

Why doesn’t a bank have security guards checking who enters? It’s a big business, yet people stroll in and out like it’s a weekend flea market. Even the tiny microfinance banks in my city have better security. And Jodie Foster’s character feels so out of place. She’s introduced as this mysterious power player, but the story never fully explores her beyond her job. On another note, they robbed the perfect person. Poetic justice, I guess.
