  BLACK BAG is simply terrific. A taut espionage thriller without *gasp* any elaborate car chases or shootouts. The movie generates suspense through dialogue and character; this wonderfully penned screenplay is one to be savoured. And even if part of the plot deals with a deadly weapon called Severus, the stakes here are personal – it's the fate of a marriage, not the fate of the planet that matters.

  Ever the environmentalist, Bong Joon-ho’s latest feels like his own batch of recycled materials (MICKEY 17 = SNOWPIERCER x OKJA). It’s long and unwieldy but it’s a lot of fun and I love that this totally bonkers movie managed to get a wide release from a major studio (playing on IMAX screens too!). Caught this @ the Market Square Cinema and the audience at my screening loved it. 3 stars for the movie. 5 stars for the experience of seeing a sold-out show (okay, smaller auditorium, but still!) with an audience fully taken by it.
