I've come across the Reductio ad Hitlerum as an argumentative strategy before. Usually it's a pointless point to make, since comparing a person to Hitler pushes both that person as Hitler to an unrealistic moral extremity, so that what we end up comparing is not even close to what we are arguing against. However, this film establishes the first time I have seen the reductio at Hitlerum used poignantly and correctly, and in such a strange way as well.
