  Berserk: The Golden Age Arc I – The Egg of the King 2012

  this movie misses out on the emotional nuances of the actual story in favor of action scenes that look like they were lifted from dynasty warriors + trying to make griffith more sympathetic for no reason. dizzying but not in the good way. the directors and i read the same comic and yet walked away prioritizing extremely different themes, and "themes" is kind of a strong word to use here bc this just feels like a recap of berserk 1997…

  really cool!!! i love how they brought those old drawings of old creatures to life (i love you tiktaalik). despite the music it also still felt eerily silent. very hard to imagine what the world must have looked like back then

  this was so lovely...very visually gorgeous, with the simple & universal message of finding belonging. there wasnt any intense conflict in this but hye-won's relationship with her mother still made me SO emotional just bc of how moving it was, and i loved all of the characters & their friendship was so much fun! this movie is so beautiful and uplifting and i can definitely see myself rewatching in the future :) the soundtrack was very soothing too
