  Beyond the Black Rainbow 2010

  This is an excellent Canadian film. It is visually stunning and plays around with the medium shooting on film and digital as well as changing aspect ratios. It breaks a lot of film conventions in terms of framing, focus, etc and makes you feel trapped with the extreme amount of close ups. The sound design mirrors this trapped feeling with its eerie ambient score, but gives you much needed breaks with some electronica and even metal. It is a really trippy film that will leave you wondering what the hell is going on until the last 5-10 minutes, but keeps you interested with its stunning visuals.
