Nosferatu 2024
In my experience, Eggers never fails to make films that are visceral and atmospheric, and Nosferatu is no exception. The cinematography is haunting and beautiful, with Eggers making the absolute most out of a sombre, bruise-like colour palette of blues, purples and greys. The scenes of Thomas hopelessly navigating Count Orlok’s castle are memorable, and foreboding—Eggers using slow pans that mimic the feeling of following and being followed, as though we, the audience, are observing Thomas through Orlok’s eyes.
