Never has a film with so much sex in it been so unsexy. This was like the awkward ugly and illegitimate love child of Bridget Jones and 50 shades of grey that we never asked for. It didn’t seem concerned with any genuine backstory or padding out who the characters actually were. Totally pointless.

A very cliched and very unlikeable female lead was my biggest problem with this movie. Dead mum, daddy issues, cynical outlook, pointless best friend. Yawn. I didn’t fear for her let alone root for her. There just wasn’t much horror in this horror film. A couple of creepy images glanced through a window and a lot of gore but most opportunities for genuine suspense were ruined by an inappropriate choice of synthy background sounds.

The first film depicted the mental demise of the female lead in a gradual, subtle way which built a very creepy atmosphere.
