One thing that both this and its precursor do so well is set extraordinarily high stakes. Within both films, you sense the impact that every single decision that’s made has on everyone in, and around the Corleone family.
Part 1 is an experience unlike anything else. Part 2 has more depths and layers to it than you’ll see in just about any other piece of film. The relationships formed within Part 1 set the stage for the emotionally heavy peaks of this film that are absolutely spectacular.
Many prefer the sequel to the original, and while I disagree, I can see why.
