Cute and not much else?
I would have preferred to see this as a fifteen minute short film (which I think could probably have easily contained just as much depth).
I enjoyed this far more than I had expected to (but I am extremely biased, I have tattoos of Dylan lyrics, it’s truly wild how much this man’s words shaped me).
Hollywood and too clean yes, but Chalamet killed this, and the fact that he played and sang all the songs really makes me admire him ever more in this performance.
I also really appreciated that they let the songs run long. I love the aesthetic of course, I love the enigma of Dylan, the image, the story, but, in the end, it’s the songs that live in my heart, the words.
“Don’t worry about it baby, it’s all temporary”
Completely in love with the Altman zoom and the way he weaves overlapping dialogue, placing us right there in the room and disorienting us at the same time.
What a strange dream.
