This film unearths the emotion of longing, the unexpected feelings that shift everything. It’s rare in life to feel this power. Heartbreaking to let go of it, but we eventually do.

Saturday Night Fever 1977
The treatment of gang rape is horrifying on multiple levels. The victim, Annette is disregarded as nothing; while the plot moves forward. While she is being raped, the lead character Tony scolds her for being ‘so available.’ This scene continues to disturb my thoughts. One, because it’s not discussed in film analysis. Two, we continue to see similar scenes from the rapist perspective, Lastly, her heartbreaking quest for acceptance is shamed. She is framed as wanting too much; the rape is punishment for her hunger.
