Asteroid City 2023
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
With Anderson, you know exactly what you are going to get, but I was still surprised by the turns of the plot. The film is unreal but that is the point - as characters slowly unravel, you see the despair that they hold. The ending has many characters vanish, denying the audience resolution as we learn that the author is quite literally dead. In a film about UFOs and aliens, you're left uncertain of what you actually saw, and the unsettledness stayed with me the whole trip home.

I Like Movies 2022
OK, this is a wee treat of a movie. It is absolutely soaked in early 2000s nostalgia, from the retail workplace comedy vibes to the absolute canonization of everything Sandler.
Anyway, beyond that, this is a movie about lots of very flawed people doing the best they can, and it is hilarious and very bittersweet. Actions have consequences, people melt down completely and although we have a happy ending, it's no Hollywood ending. It is a hopeful ending, worth the ride to get there.
