It never shies away from being goofy or earnest, and it's never pretentious. It took me like 4 screenings to truly understand what was going on. Is it because I'm perpetually sleepy? Probably. But it's also that the villains maybe didn't get enough screentime to show their cards. Mostly it's because I'm sleepy, I'm sure. It's a lot of fun, though, once it gets moving.
