The Vast of Night 2019
The script is fairly straightforward, but the direction really managed to capture those casual, intimate moments when a group of friends comes together and starts swapping unusual tales. I can imagine how the audio-only experience would have lent an extra layer of spookiness—the stories unfolding in your imagination without the visuals to anchor them. It's the kind of film that gets under your skin in a gentle, almost unsettling way. I liked it!
