  Hugh Grant was so good - it’s like he weaponized his rom-com charisma and turned it into something completely deranged. The dialogue about “iterations” felt like relative of a Tarantino script (maybe that was the point). Even though
  things get a little messy towards the end, I’m really glad it went in this direction and not the satanic A24 route it seemed like it might halfway through.

  I always saw this film as a coming-of-age tragedy as much as it is horror. De Palma’s direction is top-tier - and by direction I'm talking about those saucy split-diopter shots of Tommy. In another world Tommy would be buddies with Pat Swayze and Keanu Reeves in Point Break. Beyond all the pig guts, I think this film is really about repression, religion, and the fear of femininity. If anyone had just let Carrie be Carrie, none of this would’ve happened.

  I didn’t watch this movie. I’m not going to watch this movie. But out of respect for the great Patrick Swayze I am giving this a 0.5/5. Totally unnecessary remake. Eat my ass!
