The Brutalist 2024
Half of this movie was really cool and half just felt self-indulgent. The shock value doesn’t last when it’s used over and over in the same movie and just feels gratuitous at some point. I actually liked the intermission and was engaged the whole time despite this being such a long movie. The casting was great too! I just felt it was a bit pretentious and lost some of the value it could’ve had if there were a 3hr cut instead. I’m 50/50 on loving and hating the artsiness of A24.
