Baby It's You 1983
A lot of teen romances deal with lovers bridging class divides. This is one of those stories, but it is very well done and not cliched. Rosanna Arquette and Vincent Spano are great. The recreation of the 60s is very well done. The Arquette characters evolution from innocent high school girl to confused college student trying to find her way is believable and at times heart breaking.

Everything Is Illuminated 2005
An amazing journey takes a young, Jewish man from NYC to Ukraine in a quest to find the woman that saved his grandfather from the Nazis. It's a fish extremely out of water. His Ukrainian "translator" is hysterical, as it the elderly gent who is his driver. It begins very comical but as they travel in search of the village what was wiped off the map the tone gets increasingly somber. I showed this film to two senior English classes…
