  Unbelievable spectacle and surprisingly emotionally resonant despite resting on the rickety-to-nonexistent emotional foundation of the original. Cruise just sells it. He might always be playing himself but he’s really really great at it. Strange as he is, clearly there’s something deeply and universally human in there to mine. A top-2 time I’ve had at the movies.
