  Rewatching after having read the source material, I don’t think this movie does as good of a job capturing the character of Robert Oppenheimer but it does effectively communicate the irreversible impact he had on humanity.  The movie stands on its own as superbly edited and unique in its construction of a biopic, with the constant pacing and tension of a thriller.  The dual framing of “Prometheus” narratives with Oppenheimer and Strauss was an interesting way to present the story.…

  The Raid 2011

  Everything that the John Wick sequels want to be. I thought the sound design was fairly mediocre but the fight choreography and visuals are outstanding and off-putting in their brutality.  I also think it’s fun when movies have a clear geographical end goal (Mordor in LOTR, the front of the train in Snowpiercer, etc).

  This has grown on me since watching. I still have a few issues with it, including some that I personally find inherent to the genre, but overall it was incredibly trippy and I was engrossed the whole time.
