Late Spring 1949
“Just be happy. You'll try, won't you?”
I loved this one. Such beautiful storytelling with great themes ranging from the more bitter parts of getting married to the pain of having to separate from a loved one in order to start a new journey.
Yasujirō Ozu was a master storyteller. He created such lifelike characters and settings to use in the telling of his stories. It’s amazing how one single shot, a vase in a window, from this film tells so many words and has sparked so much debate. I look forward to finishing the “Noriko Trilogy” with Early Summer (whoops, I watched it out of order).
