Ballin’ on a budget. Impressive for the amount of money it took to make. Formulaic plot but enough originality and story to keep the audience engaged. The action was well choreographed and the camerawork was creative and thorough. You can tell the filmmakers cared about this and put in the work despite its budget. It can be cheesy and not overly complex in plot but my low expectations coming in were exceeded for sure.

Dylan’s life in this time period seemed a bit unremarkable from a storytelling standpoint but that being said, this was well done within the confines of the actual events being depicted. It was still plenty engaging, shot well, and the performances were very good. Chalamet was great. And the music lived up to my expectations. Solid biopic that didn’t try and do too much and add drama that wasn’t there.

A bold and daring film that keeps you engaged and entertained despite its supreme quirkiness and weirdness. Emma Stone nailed this character, physicality and all; she’s deserving of all the awards that come her way. The rest of the cast did a nice job as well. Some of the “furious jumping” seemed a little gratuitous and over-the-top but barring that, the overall themes and humor were a nice touch. This was beautifully shot and directed and incorporated an impressive use of color. I can understand why certain audiences would not enjoy this but there’s many reasons to like it as well.
