The Straight Story 1999
Just like Alvin’s 1966 John Deere riding mower, The Straight Story moves slow, has some mechanical issues, but at the end of the day, gets you where you need to go.
The particular highlight for me is the bar scene where Alvin and the other older man recollect the horrors of World War II.

King of the Hill 1993

Paddleton 2019
Mark Duplass is a severely underrated actor and writer. The last (main) scene is absolutely devastating and it hit me harder than anything I’ve seen in a while. It’s so incredibly directed and acted (especially by Duplass), and I don’t think I’ve seen anything else like it.
I really need to rewatch Blue Jay (the director’s previous film with Duplass), which I remember absolutely loving but haven’t seen since it came out.
