Pretty Woman 1990
Was anyone more effervescent than Julia Roberts in her prime? Wonder if Gere’s performance is better or worse because of his role as Julian in AMERICAN GIGLIO (that’d be a scorchin’ double feature).
This movie does have a pool table on screen but also features one of the stupidest background pool shots I’ve ever seen.

Honestly was not expecting the ending. Too in love with its subject but all the meta stuff worked for me and the choreo is red hot. It’s showtime, indeed.

Paris, Texas 1984
I was so profoundly moved by this movie. I hopefully will write something longer about it, but it touched some deep reaches of my heart, where dreams and fears co-mingle. Also made me want McDonald’s and a cigarette.
Harry Dean Stanton looks like no one else who has ever lived. His performance is similarly unique. It’s a film with an abiding sympathy for each of its characters, in each of their uniqueness. It wastes not one inch of film, every shot counts.One of my all time favorite films.
