nghhh actu loved this or maybe im just projecting my fascination over the Church
intriguing, watchable, and likeable. I just think some things are left undeveloped, like lawrence's struggle with faith and I kinda wanted more internal struggle w that, or maybe like develop more the plot of the liberel bloc
genuinely liked it so much it just felt like the friendship with elphaba and glinda wasn't that fully developed (plus some other plot holes (?)) therefore wasn't fully convincing that they got to be so close but then this is a part 1 so I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt

this is the perfect combo of comedic relief and social commentary. all of the jokes landed, both punch lines and editing/timing wise. none of today’s forced comedic punches were present and everything was natural.
on the message of the movie, it rlly hit me hard as it reflected the sad reality of maintaining familial relations in the midst of poverty, as well as ambitions and other vices in life, and that ultimately, the poor cannot be blamed of whatever extremity…
rlly liked the imaginative manifestation of grief, memory, and helplessness in a metaphorical way, and i dont think ive seen a ghibli film that made me think this much metaphorically
also, i find the polarized nature of the resolution refreshing because i feel most of ghibli films have more or less always ended on a positive note
lastly, the grasping on to something that is falling apart in a borderline miserable way was 🥹
