The Postman 1994
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
This film for me is a wonderful love letter from Italy to Neruda (or better a love poem) and an ode to lovers everywhere finding a way to express the beautiful turmoil that they're suffering. Fictional events are blended with Neruda's poems creating a timeless Italian love story; with the sound of the sad fishing nets and the sea as the backdrop.
Mario's death was written from the beginning by Massimo Troisi and Micheal Radford, but is made so much sadder by Troisi's passing days after shooting finished :(
