  Magnetic performance. Such a sleaze bag but a breezy watch. What Florida project was for well Florida, and Anora for the Brighton Besch of NYC, Red Rocket is for should I say Gulf of America Texas….

  The towns dominated by ugly oil and gas facilities and the characters all battling poverty and opioid addiction. A mesmerising peek inside a not-pretty part of the world.

  First rewatch after about a year. Film is still as beautiful as the first time. Julie’s an endearing presence but it it’s Axels performance that leaves me reeling.

  His monologues towards the end are so painfully executed and he speaks like he’s bargaining with death. He’s clearly still in love with her and whilst she doesn’t necessarily reciprocate the romantic love, there is a deep connection between them.

  It’s shown through moments of silence, and frames that pause through the lenses of the windows in Axels childhood home. Movie once again leaves me feeling contemplative and melancholy but good art should do that.
